Create “Killer” Teams

When you ask yourself where your organization’s results come from, the real answer will always be “teams!”.  Yes, people create results, but spectacular innovation and execution are almost always something that distinct groups of people intentionally accomplish together.  And your future as an organization will depend entirely on whether you know how to put together, nurture and – especially – UNLEASH teams of dedicated professionals.

Teams innovate.  Teams execute.  Teams get results.  Period.

But…

There are 13 ways that most organizations unintentionally cripple or even kill their teams long before they get results, and chances are that you’re doing exactly that right now.  So if you value your future, it’s time to learn how to build, nurture and unleash “KILLER” TEAMS

Foster Consistent Innovation

“Innovate and you will have dinner.  Stagnate and you will be dinner.”

In the modern world, innovation isn’t just something you hope will happen from time to time; it has to be a constant if your organization is going to survive.  Innovation has to become part of the very fabric of what you do.  And yet most organizations try to institutionalize innovation in very bureaucratic ways, only to find out that true innovation is notoriously resistant to that approach.  However…

All through history, underdogs have figured out how to make spectacular innovation a constant.  Their secret?  Well, for that you need to throw out your normal playbook entirely and start thinking like a REBEL…

Train Stellar Leaders

Much is required of a leader today – more than at any time in recent history.  Respect no longer comes with the position.  It has to be earned.  Simply maintaining static processes won’t get you by anymore (and that’s management, not leadership).  Instead, you’re responsible for generating results.  Even more, you’re responsible for inspiring your people, something your predecessors seldom worried about.  Are you up to the task?

Yet, if you know how to do it properly, if you know what it means to become a truly excellent leader, the leader your people really need and will follow to the ends of the earth and back, then being a leader will be no more stressful than breathing.  In fact, you’ll have far less stress than you do now.  And that’s all possible because…

…You’ve mastered the discipline, the processes and even the contradictions of LEADERSHIP

Develop Your Resilience Culture™

Every time we speak with a prospect or a client, the stark reality of their situation is this:

If conventional thinking could have solved your problems, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.

The world has changed and is continuing to change at an increasingly rapid rate, so it’s no longer about making a few tweaks to your organization and its business processes.  The luxury of making incremental improvements has come to an end.

Instead, today’s visionaries are reinventing culture from the ground up to maximize motivation, devolve decision-making and unleash the full potential of their organizations.  Because of that, they don’t have to think about their bottom line or their competition.  And they’ve accomplished all this by using the same analysis that underdogs throughout history have used to emerge on top.

None of us can predict how our current environment of economic uncertainty, political instability, environmental catastrophe, rapid technological change or the ongoing pandemic will threaten our businesses.  What IS in our control is the ability to create an organizational culture so resilient that effectively nothing can derail its success!

Become a Leader Before You Lead!

Do you wake up dreading the day ahead?  Are you constantly thinking you don’t have enough time, enough money or enough energy to cope with life?  Do you frequently feel overwhelmed as your health and relationships begin to suffer?  Have you recently found yourself in a new leadership role and feel inadequate to the task?

If so, you’re not alone.  What you need to know, though, is that those are just symptoms.  The problem lies elsewhere and was created by what the educational system never bothered to teach you – the true art and science of becoming a leader, right down to your very bones.

There’s a widespread delusion today that leadership is primarily about dealing with others and therefore all you need to know to become an effective leader is how to have “difficult conversations” or perhaps inspiring ones with your subordinates.  That such preparation is totally inadequate is demonstrated by the failure of so many people in leadership positions today.

Before you can act as a leader, you first need to become one.  To start with, you need to become the leader of your own life (Self-Leadership) and get your act together on all levels.  Only then will you start to instinctively think and act like a leader, irrespective of whatever position you hold officially.  And when you reach that stage, your value to any organization you belong to multiplies exponentially!

Self-Leadership is a discipline, a set of powerful principles and processes, and a precious life skill that virtually no one is ever taught.  And it’s a life skill that will…

·         Give your enormous self-confidence

·         Enable you to get your own mind 100% on your side, perhaps for the first time

·         Multiply your energy, inspiration and creativity

So, do you think it’s time to stop coping with life and become a TRUE LEADER?

Hire the Best and Keep Them!

Seldom if ever have organizations faced such severe difficulties in hiring and retaining top talent as they do today.  Consider that:

·         Some industries are experiencing up to 30% attrition in certain job categories

·         Entire plants have seen 100% turnover since the onset of the pandemic

·         And about 57% of your knowledge workers are planning to make a career move in the next 12 months

This hemorrhage of talent is bleeding corporate memory and experience, assets that cannot be replaced simply by new warm bodies (even if there were some available).  This is slowing down innovation, disrupting teams and negatively affecting senior-level decision-making as even executives join the exodus.  The cost to any organization of replacing this outflow of skilled staff is enormous in terms of money, time and productivity.

Unfortunately, organizations are frequently their own worst enemies here, with obsolete hiring paradigms practically designed to miss or alienate the right people, ineffective onboarding that kills retention from the start and a host of cultural and systemic factors that persuade the best people that they’ll be better off elsewhere.

The good news, though, is that:

·         Modernized hiring and onboarding will not only result in bringing in the talented people you need and faster, but will also improve your ability to keep them around

·         Identifying and eliminating your systemic brain-drain creators will enable you to become THE place where people in your industry want to work

Wouldn’t it be nice to have the top talent chasing you for a change?  Then it’s time to master 21st-century HIRING AND RETENTION now!
